The Sonoma Valley Education Foundation and the local school district are launching a centralized lending library of band instruments, ensuring every fifth grader in Sonoma Valley public schools can borrow one starting in August. The effort supports a year-round elementary band program set to begin in 2026-2027, taught by district music teachers whose expanded hours are funded by new statewide arts money. Students will learn instruments such as flute, clarinet, trumpet, or trombone, with older students hired to clean and repair instruments over the summer.
