The Sonoma Valley Wag is a weekly newspaper for Kenwood, Glen Ellen, and Oakmont.

We cover the news that actually reaches our corner of the valley: the permits filed along our roads, the red-flag days and the fires, the county decisions made in Santa Rosa that end up in our mailboxes, the wineries and farms that are our economy, and the events that fill our weekends. We read the whole of California’s news so that you don’t have to, and we tell you the part that matters here.

How we work

The Wag is assembled with the help of artificial intelligence, which reads hundreds of public sources — government feeds, agency releases, public data, court and permit records, and the valley’s own institutions — and drafts from them. Every statement about a person, a place, or a public decision is checked against its source and edited by a human before it reaches you. We will not invent a quote, a name, or a fact. When we get something wrong, we will correct it quickly and in plain view.

The name is a small joke. A wag is a wit — and, this being Sonoma Valley, a dog’s tail. We intend to be both: sharp about what matters, and glad to be here.
